The Midland Hotel and Chop House, owned by Eric and Jennifer Hunter, is a staple when visiting Hico, TX!
The Midland Hotel has 13 rooms upstairs and 1 ADA-approved room downstairs. Each room has its own unique history, focusing on different parts of history, including people, businesses, and community life that surrounded Hamilton Co. during the early 1900s.
The Chop House at the Midland Hotel is a Scratch Kitchen/Texas Steakhouse with a French-Creole Influence, located on the 1st floor of the Midland Hotel Property. Some of our personal favorites include the Chop House Burger, Chicken-Fried Beef Tenderloin, and Filet Mignon!
Giessner Insurance Agency LLC owned by Kenny Giessner, is Hico's local community auto insurance agency. The agency offers great protection for you, your family, and your automobiles. They take the hassle out of shopping for auto insurance by providing fast, easy, and affordable quotes with the ability to purchase same-day coverage if needed.

Blue Star Trading run by Becky Holt, was created in 1999 and occupies a beautifully restored downtown building in Historic Downtown Hico. They strive to give every customer the best customer service. Their storefront features unique hand-crafted furniture, "one-of-a-kind" jewelry, thoughtful gifts, and Texas-style apparel with new items added frequently.
Blue Star also contains an art gallery featuring Texas artists - Painter Jerry McAdams, sculptor David Iles, and Photographer Wyman Meinzer.
Hico Popcorn Works owned and operated by Donna McInnis and Steve Douglas opened its doors in May of 2010. Its namesake comes from a turn-of-the-century Hico business, Hico Candy and Bottling Works.
Since then it has moved from the Midland Hotel to its storefront down the road. What started as a popcorn shop has now branched out to include fudge, chocolate-dipped pretzels, pralines, and brittle and is home to several local entrepreneurs' unique products including books, canisters, paintings, and much more. We highly suggest you pop into Hico Popcorn Works for a savory snack or sweet treat!
